What is Telehealth?
Telehealth allows you to consult with your specialist without attending our rooms in person. It’s designed to support patients who live outside Brisbane, or who need a follow-up discussion that doesn’t require a physical examination. Consultations are conducted via secure videoconference using Coviu platform, giving you real-time access to your specialist from home, work or your GP’s office.
How is a Telehealth Appointment Conducted?
Telehealth consultations at Brisbane Endocrine and Metabolic Specialists are held via Coviu, a secure video platform. You’ll need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a stable internet connection. At the time of your appointment, you’ll join a video call with your specialist and discuss your condition, results, and treatment plan in real time, just as you would in person. Prior to your scheduled appointment, you will be sent a telehealth link via sms/email to join the videoconference.
Fees and Payment
The same consultation fee applies to telehealth appointments as to face-to-face consultations. A valid referral from your GP is required to access a Medicare rebate.
Payment is processed through Coviu, which will request your credit card details in advance. Your card will be charged at the end of the consultation, and once your fee is processed you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

If you’re a new patient, please ensure you have a valid GP or specialist referral ready to send through before your appointment is confirmed.
Before Your Consultation
To help your specialist prepare, please send the following ahead of your appointment where possible:
- Your GP or specialist referral (if not already received)
- Any relevant scans, imaging, or pathology results not already accessible to us online
- Completed Patient Registration Form (will be provided at the time of booking)
- Completed Privacy Consent Form (will be provided at the time of booking)
