Tracey Lyon

Tracey Lyon is an Advanced Podiatrist with more than 25 years of experience across high-risk foot care, public health, private practice, and health-care education. She graduated from Salford University in the United Kingdom in 1997, completing a program with a strong clinical focus on high-risk foot pathology. Tracey began her career working alongside a podiatric surgeon in private practice before moving into the NHS. She later emigrated to Australia with her daughters Rebecca and Alexandra to pursue a better life and broader professional opportunities.

In Australia, Tracey worked within a large not-for-profit organisation and established her own private practice to support patients from low-socioeconomic backgrounds in accessing Medicare-funded podiatry services. She later joined Queensland Health, where she continued her work in high-risk foot management across Metro North Hospital and Health Services for over 15 years.

Alongside her clinical work, Tracey undertook formal training in motivational interviewing (MI), completing a published systematic literature review and several related publications examining the effects of staff training in MI.

After completing her Master of Research, she transitioned into the Culture and Wellbeing team at Queensland Health, focusing on psychosocial wellbeing, staff support and education, and promoting psychologically safe workplaces. In this role, she provided training on recognising staff needs, navigating available support services, and fostering compassionate, empathetic communication, emphasising what is often most valuable in health care: the time to actively listen.

Tracey brings to BEMS not only extensive expertise in high-risk foot care but also a strong commitment to holistic care, communication, and supporting patients and colleagues to reach their full potential.
