Dr Hassan Shahid

Dr Hassan Shahid is a specialist Endocrinologist consulting at Brisbane Endocrine and Metabolic Specialists.

Dr Shahid completed his endocrinology training across major centres in South East Queensland, including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Toowoomba Hospital, and Ipswich Hospital.

He welcomes referrals across all areas of endocrinology and diabetes, including:

  • Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, and other forms)
  • Osteoporosis and osteopaenia
  • General endocrinology
  • Hypogonadism
  • Obesity and metabolic syndrome, including weight management programs
  • Parathyroid and calcium disorders
  • Metabolic bone disease
  • Reproductive endocrinology and hormone replacement
  • Thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders

Passionate about medical education, Dr Shahid is a Senior Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine at University of Queensland. His commitment to teaching has been recognised through a nomination for the Award for Excellence in Medical Education at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Shahid is deeply committed to evidence-based medicine and continuously updates his clinical knowledge to ensure his patients receive care aligned with the latest research and guidelines. He is an active member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the US Endocrine Society, the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society, and the Australian Diabetes Society.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Shahid is engaged in ongoing research as a Research Fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he focuses on translating research findings into practical advances in patient care. He is driven by a belief in equitable, evidence-based healthcare and is passionate about empowering patients to understand their own health.

Dr Shahid views the doctor–patient relationship as a partnership, walking alongside his patients on their health journey rather than taking the driver’s seat – acknowledging that every person’s path is different.
